The Staithe by davepuls The Staithe by davepuls
Here is my latest oil pastel painting. It is of a "Staithe" in Norfolk, UK. These are tiny landing places for small boats, on narrow channels on the Norfolk Broads network of waterways.

This is with Sennelier and Neopastel oil pastels on 340 gsm Sennelier pastel card. 9.5x6.5 inches.

Here is exactly what I am talking about. I am assuming this is an original and this shows your style and true character through art so much better than any of your copies. the colors and lines are beautiful on this one. You and other artists learn so much more from this. for example; I love how your blue shadows in the water have a jagged linear but chaotic appearance giving an impression of mild ripples. I can use that subtle technique forever now. Good work!

Thank you. This was based on a photograph, but was inevitably not completely realism due to the oil pastels, and I was pleased with this result.

This is the kind of comment I really like in the case of landscapes - a caption explaining where it is. You do good work.

Thank you! Yes, oil pastels are really well suited to this kind of painting. But I would highly recommend using artists quality oil pastels, as they are much softer and easier to blend.

Incredible!

I myself like oil pastels and this work of yours is super! Did you use some solvent or other blending tools?

Thank you! No solvents, just blended with fingers and a paper stump, and other pastels. These artist quality oil pastels are so soft that they are very easily blended.
