This painting is my experimenting with a new direction for my knife painting - a fairly realistic landscape, but impressionist in style. It is based on photos and an oil pastel sketch which I made at the location (Attenborough nature reserve, Nottingham, UK). Here is a link to the oil pastel sketch: [link]

The painting is 12x9 inches, Cryla and Liquitex acrylics on canvas board. All painted with painting knives. Lots of impasto texture, but not as much as my usual!

When looking at your gallery, one can notice this painting clearly stands out. Mainly because of the difference in style, but it is also noticeable you've spent more time working on this one than on some other paintings of yours. I really, really like this one. :)

Thank you, I really appreciate your comments. I often think of doing something similar, but haven't yet got round to it. This painting is quite small, but I think it helped being on canvas board, as it is a strong surface and could take lots of layers and scraping extra paint on top of the heavy impasto base.
